Why didn't I know about this place?
That has got to be the most common refrain we have heard during this past year. And while we are a new B&B in St Augustine, one would think we would have found our guests by now, right? Well, here are a few things guests are saying to help you too find the best Bed and breakfast in St Augustine.
For the most part, St Augustine in a TripAdvisor town; while some cities are dominated by Yelp or other review sites, in our little village, TripAdvisor is the place to go to learn what others are saying about a particular place, be it restaurants, sightseeing venues or yes, Bed and Breakfasts. So if one looks at Hemingway House B & B’s TripAdvisor page, what will they find?
- · 72 reviews, within the last 11 months
- · 70 of which are ‘Excellent’
- · With an overall ranking of 5 (or 6), out of 32 other Inns! (Depending on the day)
But enough from us, what are the folks saying? (Read these reviews for yourself here) Here are some:
“Great B&B” 5 of 5 stars
Last minute trip to St Augustine, stayed at Hemingway House. Great service from Jerry and Rod, location is perfect and the home/rooms are beautiful. We enjoyed the short visit and will definitely coming back!
“First Class People” 5 of 5 stars
I generally don't write reviews, but hardworking people that provide excellent service and hospitality deserve to be recognized. My girlfriend and I visited the Hemingway House over the Memorial Day Weekend. This was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. Rod and Jerry have mastered their craft and go to great lengths to make sure your time in their home is special. From the comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms to the afternoon cocktail hour and delicious breakfast, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you again for a wonderful stay and hope to see you again the next time we come to town.
“Wonderful little gem!” 5 of 5 stars
Before we even got on the premises we called ahead on a busy packed Memorial Day Weekend and we were able to get a room right in downtown St. Augustine but it's much more than that....
We got there at 5pm on Saturday which we found out was their Happy Hour. This meant a few glasses of wine, homemade cookies, pretzels and peanuts and wonderful company. Rod and Jerry called this their social hour where they got a chance to know their guests. We had such great conversation.
We stayed at the Hemingway House in room #2. (They own the adjoining Inn on the Charlotte) We had a shared balcony, newly renovated room with a very comfortable bed and our own parking spot! The bathroom and room were very clean and neat with a very calm feel. It felt like we were staying at a family members house with all amenities we could need.
They made a wonderful breakfast at 9:15 where all the guests ate together on separate double seated tables in a quaint room. We were all served a frittata with bacon and sour cream banana bread with an apricot spread. Very good.
We plan on coming back whenever we are back in this area. We just wish we lived closer to come more often!

“Great B&B in St. Augustine” 5 of 5 stars
We returned to try the new Hemingway House after a wonderful stay at the same Innkeepers' Inn on Charlotte next door last year. Great location, walkable to everything - fine dining, shopping, and the Tini Martini bar! Gracious, friendly hosts with great Hemingway and local anecdotes to share. Delicious unique complete fresh cooked breakfast. Clean comfortable rooms furnished with antiques and beautiful prints. We'll be back.
“Most Welcoming Place in St. Augustine” 5 of 5 stars
Hemingway House has it all: fantastic location, easy walking access to most tourist activities, super clean rooms, comfortable beds, and incredibly welcoming hosts! Staying here is like staying with family-the good kind! As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast is lovely, as is the afternoon wine social hour. If you're looking for the best place to enjoy St. Augustine, look no further than Hemingway House! We can't wait to go back!
The common theme throughout all of these reviews is that...
1) Guests liked the location and had a good time because of it;
2) Guests liked the food & beds (No brainer there. Hello: ‘Bed and Breakfast’); and finally
3) They plan to return, which is - after all is said and done - the best review of them all, no?
